SINGAPORE: A pipe burst at the junction of Bukit Batok West Avenue 6 and Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 on Tuesday night (Sep 26), shooting drinking water a number of metres in the air.
In a Facebook post, PUB stated it been given studies of the “pipe leak” from 9.55pm. It also encouraged motorists to get alternate routes.
A spokesperson for the Singapore Civil Defence Pressure (SCDF) stated it is helping PUB in responding to the leak.
When Channel NewsAsia frequented the scene at about 11pm, drinking water was observed spouting at a peak of up to 8 metres.
An SCDF fireplace engine and two law enforcement cars and trucks had been spotted at the scene. A PUB van arrived at about 11.05pm.
Ms Eileen Tey posted a online video of the incident on Facebook, likening the gushing drinking water to a “fountain”.
She advised Channel NewsAsia she was on her way house when she saw the drinking water, which was about knee amount at very first. Then it out of the blue “shot up to 3 to 4 storeys high”, she stated.
Officers from SCDF arrived shortly just after. “Impacted cars had been advised to reverse their car or truck and use alternate routes by the SCDF officers on web-site,” she stated.
Spectacular online video posted by Kelvin Tan on Facebook showed cars and trucks inching by the tower of drinking water.
