SINGAPORE: The late military soldier Gavin Chan, 21, will be laid to relaxation with a armed forces funeral on Saturday morning (Sep 23).
The 3rd Sergeant (3SG) was executing his entire-time National Assistance (NS) obligations at an once-a-year schooling training in Australia when the armoured car he was commanding landed on its facet past Friday. He succumbed to his injuries a several hrs later.
At about 10.15am, Chan’s cortege departed from his wake in Pasir Ris for Mandai Crematorium, wherever he will be accorded entire armed forces honours.
His platoon mates are expected to be in attendance soon after staying flown again to Singapore from Australia earlier this week.
Chan was the eldest of four youngsters to Mr Desmond Chan and Mdm Lim Teck Kheng. He was a Serangoon Junior University alumnus who had planned to review at a university abroad soon after completing NS later this year.
